The Union Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, has approved the Digital Agriculture Mission with an overall outlay of Rs. 2,817 crore, including a central share of Rs. 1,940 crore. The mission aims to transform the agricultural sector through technology, establishing a Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) for agriculture. Key components include the AgriStack, which features a Farmers' Registry, Geo-referenced Village Maps, and a Crop Sown Registry, and the Krishi Decision Support System (DSS) for comprehensive geospatial information. The mission is expected to enhance farmers' access to credit, insurance, and personalized advisories based on data. Implementation will involve collaboration with State Governments, who will sign MoUs with the Ministry of Agriculture.
