The Union Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, has approved the Digital Agriculture Mission with an overall outlay of Rs. 2,817 crore, including a central share of Rs. 1,940 crore. The mission aims to transform the agricultural sector through technology, establishing a Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) for agriculture. Key components include the AgriStack, which consists of a Farmers' Registry, Geo-referenced Village Maps, and a Crop Sown Registry, and the Krishi Decision Support System (DSS) that will unify remote sensing information on crops, soil, weather, and water resources. The initiative is expected to enhance farmers' access to credit and insurance, streamline direct benefit transfers, and provide personalized advisories based on data. The mission will be implemented in collaboration with State Governments from 2024 to 2026.
