The Union Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has approved the Digital Agriculture Mission with an outlay of Rs. 2,817 crore, including a central share of Rs. 1,940 crore. The mission aims to transform the agricultural sector through technology, establishing a Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) for agriculture. Key components include the AgriStack, which features a Farmers' Registry, Geo-referenced Village Maps, and a Crop Sown Registry, along with a Krishi Decision Support System (DSS) for comprehensive geospatial data on agriculture. The initiative is expected to enhance farmers' access to credit, insurance, and personalized advisories, and will be implemented in collaboration with State Governments from 2024 to 2026.
