The Union Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, has approved the Digital Agriculture Mission with an outlay of Rs. 2,817 crore, including a central share of Rs. 1,940 crore. This mission aims to transform the agricultural sector through technology, establishing a Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) for agriculture. Key components include the AgriStack, which features a Farmers' Registry, Geo-referenced Village Maps, and a Crop Sown Registry, along with a Krishi Decision Support System (DSS) to provide farmers with better access to credit, insurance, and personalized advisories.
